Exiled Border Families to Ireland

Since I can't seem to make any headway I have decided to try to work my way forward in time from Lang Wul Graham , who as you probably know , was kicked out of Scotland in the mid-1500's by the Scottish Govt., and with his eight sons , their womenfolk and children, plus their Tenants and other followers, set up Residence in the Dbateable Lands.

I came across a Document, which is available from the Whitehaven Library and Family Research Centre. It was written in 1606 , on Vellum in very “ poor standard ” Ancient Secretary Hand. I put myself on the task of getting an ability to read this ancinet form of writing , and was successful in getting ( FOR FREE ! ! ) the help of an NZ Paleographer, from the University of Otago , who was kind enough to proof-read and correct my work. Coupled with the fact I got access to an Article by the late Dr. R.T.Spence, I have four Lists of Grahams, and some other folk of other surnames.  I am very happy to share some / all these lists with any other Family History Researcher, so just let me know .

List 1) from Dr. Spence …“ The de Acre List of Grahams ” Circa  1561

List 2) Lord Burghley's List of Grahams , Circa 1602 these Lists take up around 20 pages, being there is other info. too.

List 3) The List of Graham Menfolk sent by Order of King James to his Garrisons in Holland ( Brille and Flushing)

and:-

List 4) The List of whole Graham Families Exiled to Ulster by Order of King James, to the “ PLantation” mentioned in DH's Post….these two Lists comprise 12 or so pages.

I found it fascinating , following the names from one List to another, so was our local Chemist here , Neil Waugh, ( Waugh's Pharmacy) who is also descended from a Border Reiver Clan ! Small World do'ncha reckon ?

Cheers the ' noo n' all, Bruce Graham!
